The life and times of a Jackson State Community College student.

“Yesterday, December 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan…”

Today is December 7. Do you know what that means? A lot of people don’t. I wish everyone knew. Today is the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I went to Hawaii in high school. It was for a band trip; we played a concert at the dock of the U.S.S. Missouri. It was amazing to be there. There were still parts of the ships that were bombed in the water. There is also an oil leak coming from the U.S.S. Arizona. Legend says that it will leak until the last Arizona survivor dies and some say that the black spots in the water represent the tears are being shed by the intombed soldiers, sailors, and marines in the ships. It is a very eerie sight to see.

I’ll tell you something else a lot of people don’t know. This past weekend the troops went back to their camps to prepare for war. Guys and girls 18 years old are going to serve. I think that is pretty great.
If you know anyone or have anyone in your family that is serving, someone is thinking about them and you always. All of America thanks them for what they have been doing, are doing, and what they will do.
Guys, try to remember the important days in our country’s history. You might not think they are a big deal now, but just imagine yourself being there when it happened. Then it was a big deal.
