Goodbye Jackson State
Blogging was never something that I really wanted to do. I’m usually more of an outspoken person—I just say what I think or how I feel (no matter what). This blog has allowed me to just say anything I want to say and feel any way I want to feel. I just type it instead of saying it out loud and maybe hurt someone’s feelings. (Not that I ever do that)
There are a lot of things...
Summer is here!!!
Summer is here! If you’re anything like me, that means…..MORE SCHOOL!! Yay! The first session I am taking Biology 1. I’m sooo nervous about it. I’ve never been much of a science fan, which is weird because my dad was a chemistry major. He’s still crazy about it. Anyway, I had my first class and lab today, and I really...

April Showers Bring May Flowers...
April showers bring May flowers…until they get blown away!!
Those storms were pretty rough this past weekend. That’s one thing about the spring that I just don’t like. Mother nature can’t make up her mind on whether it’s going to be hot or cold and whether it’s going to be sunny or rainy. As we all know, when she gets all confused, it’s almost as if she...
just thought I'd tell you about my shopping...
I went shopping today, and it just made me want to cry. I would find something that I want to get, try it on, and then…look at the price tag. I finally find something that looks good on and off the hanger, and I have to give an arm and both legs for it. Either I’m broke or I’m cheap. I think it might be a little bit of both, but o well. I still ended with three shirts for myself...
Baseball Season!
One of the my favorite things about Spring is baseball! I used to go to a lot of games in high school, and I loved them. A Diamond Jaxx baseball game is coming up next Thursday, and it is going to be Jackson State night! I have to work at the game so I’ll be there. It’s is the first baseball game I’ve been to since high school! I can’t wait! It is “Dollar Night”...

i'm glad Spring break is over!
In case you haven’t heard me say it yet, I think I’m allowed to say that I had the worst Spring break ever. I’m about to tell you a story. The story of my Spring break. It is not a story filled with parties at the beach, ice cream sundaes in the back yard with the fam, or even just riding around with the windows down with my friends. This story has to do with MY Spring break. I...
Spring break is definitely on its way here! Only one day away! I’m so ready to have a week off. I’m so busy all the time!….I’m sure a lot of you have big plans…maybe you’re going to the beach or to visit some family. Well all i really want to do this Spring break is sleep! Like my own little hibernating time. I just want to crawl up in my bed and sleep all week...

English...Ancestors...
I had an assignment in English where I had to write an essay about one of my ancestors that lived during and before 1910. I chose my great grandmother who was born not only in 1910, but on the tenth day of the tenth month in 1910! I got most of my information from my grandmother, which was her daughter. Hearing about everything that she used to do was...
Of course I’m going to write a blog for Valentine’s Day! I thought about looking on the internet and finding stuff about the origin of V-Day, but I decided I will just write something from me instead.
When I think about Valentine’s day, I think of the colors red and pink (of course). I think about flowers and chocolates (of...
Ice, Ice Go Away!...
I just want to say that I’m extremely tired of the snow and ice. I love cold weather, but this is just insane. Canceling school is nice too, but i would rather be in school than to be stuck in the house because the roads are so bad.
Any way…the main thing that has me upset about his weather is its making me sick. Literally. I can’t breathe out of my nose, and my head feels like...
ice and snow aren't always good
Well that was a nice break we got wasn’t it? I never would have thought that college would get out because of bad weather, but let me tell you, i was glad! My road alone was dangerous enough! I heard about a lot of wrecks on the highways and interstate. That’s how a lot of people here at Jackson State get here. Hopefully, everybody was ok though. I didn’t really agree about us...

Speech Class
As I said, I have speech this semester. It’s not that I think it’s going to be a hard class. I’m just not sure if I will be very good at it. Yes, I love to talk, but my teacher pointed out that just because you like to talk doesn’t mean you will do well in speech class. So…maybe I am a little worried. The first thing we are going to have to stand up and talk about is an informational speech...
We're Baaaackk!! :-)
Hey guys! School is finally back in session. We all knew it was coming so lets get it over with right? This semester, for me, is gonna be pretty exciting. I’m taking English Composition 1, Art Appreciation, Speech, and Oral Interpretation. You could be thinking why I think this semester will be exciting…well, all of my classes have to do with my favorite things—art, writing,...

Out of all of the holidays, the fall and winter holidays are my favorite. Starting with Halloween with all of the dressing up and then there’s Thanksgiving with all of the…dressing to eat. (ha)…..and of course the best one of all—Christmas!! You’ve got to love Christmas. Even if you don’t have much, you still have your family and that’s...
JSCC Studying Stats
I got a little curious about how other students study for their finals. I decided to make a 5-question survey and ask random students:
1. Do you like to listen to music when you study? 5 out of 10 students said no.
2. Do you eat when you study? Or is it more of a distraction? 4 out of 10 students said yes…lots of junk food
3. Where is your favorite place to study? 5 out of 10 said...

Today is December 7. Do you know what that means? A lot of people don’t. I wish...

It is super cold outside!!!! Don’t get me wrong. I love cold weather, but it just seems kind of early to be so cold! Now that I think about it, the summer wasn’t exactly as hot as it could have been so I bet this winter is going to be pretty cold! But that’s just my opinion. I hope it snows. I love snow! The way it almost...

Yes, it's natural.
I’m a red head. I admit it. I know this is hard to believe—especially if you know me—I have a really bad temper. I know, I know. I can’t believe it either. Maybe red heads are angry because only like 4% of the world is redheaded, and most of them are in Australia and, of course, Scotland! I’m a little upset about it! I was doing some research on redheads and found some pretty interesting...

Swimmer's Ear?...In November?
I haven’t even looked at a pool in about three months! I went to the convenient care last Wednesday night in Jackson, and the doctor looked in one of my ears and said well that one looks good. She looked in the other and scared the ever livin outta me when she said “Oh my gosh, girl!! What have you been doing to your ear??” I had no clue what she was...
MATH!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Math used to be my BEST subject in high school. These past few weeks in Algebra/Precal I haven’t been doing too great. I mean, I’m not failing or anything, but it’s pretty difficult. We had a test last Monday that I thought was supposed to be last Wednesday! I didn’t even try to look over the practice test or anything. It wasn’t even...

Important Summit!
So I told you about my job and how I work with Mrs. Dee Henderson. Well, yesterday was a very important day for us! Dee has been in charge of planning the Economic Summit for the past five years and yesterday was the sixth and I got to be part of it! (and I got paid, so that was a plus)…It was a really good experience for me too. I got to meet just about every mayor of just about every county...
I'm going to India one day! That's for sure!!
I had the liberty to sit down with our very own Dr. Teri Maddox, professor of English and speech, who went to India this past May and June. She told me a lot of great things, and she even let me take pictures!
Dr. Maddox had been trying to apply for Rotary Fellowship so she could teach next summer when she got a call saying why wait until next year; come this year instead! So in the middle...

This just in. Channel 4 News.
Let me tell you about my job…I work with a lovely lady named Dee Henderson. She is in charge of Institutional Advancements for Jackson State. Under her is my good friend Heather Kennedy who does Public Relations, Marketing, and Media, and under her is me, the Student Reporter (of course). Dee, Heather, and I all went to Nashville Tuesday. We...

STRESS=LIFE=STRESS=LIFE....
School…parents…jobs….who can keep up with so much? It’s a lot harder than you might think. Being at Jackson State is the highlight of my days sometimes because that’s usually the only time I have to sit down. The homework isn’t so bad, I guess…unless you just don’t worry about it until the night before all of it is due at once. And then, what happens? Your parents get involved because...

Hypnotist!!!
Jackson State was THE place to be yesterday afternoon! If you weren’t at the hypnotist’s show, you were missing out. There was Beyonce, Taylor Swift, a pit bull, and a balloon instrument worth $100,000!!! Jim Wand, hypnotist from Chicago, was here doing is annual hypnotist show. I must say, the man is talented! He had about 15 people up on stage sitting in chairs. Once he got them with their...
Past couple of weeks...
The past couple of weeks, I’ve gotten a lot more familiar with the campus. I’ve made a few new friends. I’ve always heard that the friends you make in college are the friends that you will have forever. I’m beginning to see that. College life is pretty nice. I’m a little overwhelmed because I just got a new job on top of the sonic job I already had. I think I...

First Day at Jackson State
The first day of school was pretty nerve racking! I was way too early. I even beat my teacher to my class (I know now that I will always beat my teacher to class, but that day I was scared). I was pretty sure that I was the youngest person in there too. That’s one thing that I love about Jackson State. There is a huge variety of people from everywhere, all different ages. That first day...
Orientation at Jackson State
I went into orientation a little nervous. I was afraid nobody would have the same color dot on the top of their paper that I did. It turns out, one of my old friends from high school was in there, and she kept me company. The campus seems a lot bigger when you have to walk all the way around it twice in two hours. The guides were nice, but it kind of seemed like a wild goose chase for the...
